On-loan defender Max Ehmer would rather stay with Gillingham than sit on the bench for his parent club QPR.
Ehmer is due to return to Loftus Road at the end of the season, having spent the last five months playing regularly for the Gills in League 1.
The 23-year-old has a year left on his contract at QPR, where he's made just one first-team appearance since signing professional forms back in 2009.
Ehmer said: "I’d prefer to play here every week than be sat on the bench at QPR if I’m being honest.
"It’s the sort of club I could see myself coming to, 100%.
"While I’ve been here I’ve really enjoyed it and I haven’t regretted it one bit."
But questions marks over the manager's position at QPR are likely to complicate matters.
Harry Redknapp, who was in charge when Ehmer joined the Gills in November, was sacked after the German's loan deal had been extended.
QPR subsequently put Chris Ramsey in charge until the end of the season.
Ehmer said: "I don’t know anything, really, because they don’t even know if Chris Ramsey’s staying next year. I literally have no idea.
"I speak to Les (Ferdinand) and Chris Ramsey a lot but it’s hard for them to say ‘we want you to play next year’ because Chris doesn’t even know himself if he’s going to be manager.
"Me and Chris get on really well so maybe I would have been around it this season had I stayed. But I signed my loan and the day after, Redknapp goes, so there wasn’t a lot I could do."
Would relegation from the Premier League improve Ehmer's chances of getting a game at QPR?
"You’d like to think so," he said. "It happened before, two years ago, but I didn’t play a lot. I was on the bench a lot and I came on once. I’ll have to wait and see.
"I literally don’t know what happens in the summer. That’s the only thing stopping me right now."
Ehmer has played 27 games for the Gills so far, scoring once.
