Max Ehmer says Justin Edinburgh is a great manager.
Edinburgh is coming under pressure in light of Gills’ poor form – they’re 18th after five league games without a win – but defender Ehmer is backing the boss to turn things around.
He said: “I think he’s a great manager and you saw what he did with us last year. No one expected us to be where we were.
“Everyone’s behind the manager, all the players, everyone, and we will come through this and get where we want to be.”
It was Edinburgh who signed Ehmer on a permanent deal after a successful loan spell at Priestfield. And the defender outlined why he thinks Gills have the right man in charge.
He said: “He brought me to the football club and, like you saw last year, I don’t know if we over-achieved or under-achieved but we were at the top for a long time and no one was questioning him then.
“He’s got the tactics, he’s got the man-management skills and all the boys are behind him. Nothing’s changed there.
“We’ve just got to ride through this tricky period and then we’ll be on our way up.”
