The Lordswood Valkyries women’s team are offering a free introduction to rugby this Sunday - and they’ve got two England internationals in to help.
Marlie Packer and Rosie Galligan are both back at the club, having previously helped the team, to assist with the ‘inner warrior’ recruitment event.
Packer, who plays back row for Saracens, was part of the England 2014 World Cup winning squad and was a finalist in 2017 and 2022. She has played 74 times for her country.
Fellow international Galligan started out at Aylesford Bulls and was a pupil at the Maidstone Grammar School. She made her England debut in the 2019 Six Nations and featured in the squad that made the delayed Final of the 2021 Rugby World Cup.
This event is aimed at women aged 18 and above, who want to try a new sport for the new year, or have previously played rugby and are looking to get back into the sport.
The club say they “welcome people of all ages, sizes and abilities; rugby is for everyone!”
Packer and Galligan will explain and demonstrate the basics of rugby “in a practical session aimed at all abilities”.
A Lordswood spokesperson said: “We want to show you exactly why rugby is more than just a sport; Lordswood is a family.”
The session runs between 1pm and 3pm at the club’s North Dane Way home ground for those who are new to the sport or returning players.
There will be a 90-minute training session followed by a Q&A and photo opportunity with the England ladies. To register your interest, either sign up through the club’s facebook page or via their own website.
