Louis Greene is fighting for the English welterweight title this Saturday at Wembley Arena.
The title fight is being broadcast live on Sky Sports.
Greene (13-2), known as the ‘Medway Mauler’ comes up against Harry Scarff for the vacant belt. Ten rounds are scheduled.
Greene, from Strood, has seven KO wins to his name and will be hoping to elevate himself even further with a victory on Saturday.
He claimed a points victory over Romanian Octavian Gratii last time out, back in November. Since then there have been offers of fights in Poland and Italy that came to nothing but Greene’s camp jumped at the chance when the title opportunity was put to them.
Trainer and father John Greene said: “It was getting a bit demoralising when previous fights have fallen through but when this came up it was like ‘oh my god’. We knew when this offer came around it was legitimate and we were all over it. Louis is in great nick and champing at the bit.”
Greene is currently ranked ninth in the British welterweight rankings, with Derby’s Scarff just outside the top 10. Scarff comes into the contest off the back of TKO wins in his last two fights.
