There’s still time to enter the Medway Sports Awards.
The awards will celebrate sporting achievement in Medway during the past four years, with 11 categories to enter.
Among the early entrants are Jumpers who have entered the Club of the Year category.
Jumpers has been together for 45 years and still has the same ethos that the sport should be for everyone whatever ability, which they still achieve.
Jumpers were able to hold two selections for the World and World Age championships in 2021. Jumpers also had one member on the Senior GBR Trampoline Squad, one member on the Senior GBR DMT Squad, one member on the Junior DMT GBR Squad, one member on the England foundation DMT Programme and two members on the GBR Trampoline Development Programme while Louise Brownsey competed at the 2022 European Senior Championships.
They’re joined in the nominations by Kent Crusaders under-12s basketball team, who have entered the Junior Team of the Year category.
Crusaders were the South East National League champions in 2021/22, going undefeated in their 10 games and with a points difference of 534.
The squad was made up of around 20 players and they all played throughout the season and all contributed in the court. The commitment the team made to keep getting better was great to witness as they trained twice a week and even played in friendlies on weekends they didn’t have a league game to make sure they kept improving.
The Medway Sports Awards are organised by Medway Council and supported by the Medway Messenger. The awards cover achievements during the period October 1, 2018 to October 31, 2022.
Nominations close on October 31 and can be made at www.medway.gov.uk/sportsawards where you can also find out more about the categories.
