Striker Rory Donnelly hasn’t given up hope of breaking into Northern Ireland’s squad ahead of this summer’s European Championships.
The Belfast-born frontman ended his goal drought last weekend in the 3-0 win over Bradford City and would love to win a place on the plane to France this summer.
Donnelly then took his tally for the season to eight in the 3-2 defeat at Wigan and the 23-year-old hopes a productive second half of the season gets him noticed.
He said: “I have to perform well for the manager to come and look at me.
“It is something that is still on my mind and if I keep my run going, then I could get a call.
“I am sure if I keep performing well and scoring goals, then I will be on their radar.”
Northern Ireland had a fantastic Euro 2016 qualifying campaign, booking their place after topping Group F under the guidance of Michael O’Neill. It will be their first major tournament in 30 years.
“You never know,” said Donnelly, when asked about his chances of breaking into the team.
“Anybody could get injured and it’s the manager’s choice, he picks who he wants. If my scoring run continues, then I could be on that plane.
“He may stick with the squad he has. If he contacts me then I would be happy to go but if not, then I won’t let it bother me.”
