Gillingham have completed the signing of former MK Dons midfielder Ousseynou Cisse.
The Malian international played 26 games for the Dons last season to help them win promotion from League 2.
Cisse, 28, became a free agent in the summer after their manager needed to make room for additional signings following their promotion, with the midfielder among those to depart.
He’s been with MK for the last two seasons and has previously played football in France, Belgium and Spain.
Prior to moving to England, Cisse - whose family is based in Paris - started his career with Amiens, having also spent time playing youth football at Paris St Germain.
He spent three years at Dijon before moving to Spanish La Liga side Rayo Vallecano during which time he had a loan spell with Waasland-Beveren in Belgium.
A year at Tours, back in France, was followed by a move to England, joining MK Dons in the summer of 2017. He left there this summer after making 58 league appearances, including both games against the Gills in his first season, in League 1.
Born in Suresnes, just outside Paris, Cisse has played a handful of games for Mali, making his international debut in 2015.
Speaking to MK prior to the end of the season, he described the kind of player he is, saying: “I’m always working hard and I try every day to give everything.
“I want to be the boss in midfield and boss the middle of the pitch in every game. After that, I’ll play football.”
Boss Steve Evans told the club's website that Cisse was a key signing.
He said: "“At 6’5 he is a big strong defensive midfield player, but he has got fantastic talent and is capable of making the types of passes from a slightly deeper area, that will help us break the lines and give our defensive players clear opportunities to attack visiting defences.
"We’ve added a key ingredient to the team that was missing last season, defensive power in such a key area.”
His arrival looks to have completed the midfield additions for Evans, who has now made six signings this summer, but he’ll now be keen to offload several players in that department.
Enquiries have been made about some of the players he doesn’t want to keep but no deals have been completed yet.
Evans said: “We have had two or three clubs for two or three of the boys but their representatives have told me they don’t feel those clubs are particularly right for them and that is their prerogative, they don’t get treated any different.
“They will be treated professionally but the result is that as we get towards the start of the season they won’t be getting any minutes because we will be getting ready.”
Evans will now focus his attentions on bolstering the strike force and bringing in additional strength to the defence. He's also keen on adding another goalkeeper to give Jack Bonham and Joe Walsh extra competition.
