Form means nothing to Gillingham boss Steve Lovell.

His side visit a Fleetwood team on Friday night who have gone seven games in the league without a home win.

Lovell watched his own team crash out of the FA Cup on Tuesday night, losing to lower-division Carlisle, just three days after a 4-1 victory over Bristol Rovers in League 1.

He said: “They (Fleetwood) are not on the best of runs but that doesn’t count for anything.

“Carlisle lost on Saturday to Port Vale and their home form hadn’t been that great but they won (against the Gills).

“We just have to plan what we want to do. We will dust everyone off and see who is OK and who can train.

“We will train Thursday and prepare Friday and it will be another big game for us.”

The Gills travelled North on Tuesday morning by train for their game at Carlisle and are
staying together ahead of the match at Fleetwood (7pm kick-off).

“The players have no excuses,” said Lovell. “We will look after them and prepare properly for Friday.

“We are out of the cup, which is disappointing. It would have been nice to get through to the third round but the league is what we have to concentrate on now.”

Lovell stuck with an unchanged side on Tuesday but defeat is likely to give others a look-in.

Defender Gabriel Zakuani and striker Conor Wilkinson will be among those hoping for a recall to the starting XI.
