Gillingham boss Ady Pennock will have an additional attacking option this weekend.
Bournemouth loanee Harry Cornick has finally joined up with the squad after recovering from injury.
The 21-year-old, who agreed a loan deal with the Gills at the end of the January transfer window, joined up with Pennock’s squad for training this week.
Cornick has now fully recovered from a groin injury. His arrival is a real boost for the Gills as they look to quickly pull clear from trouble in League 1.
“It’s a big bonus for us,” said Gills head coach Pennock.
“He is direct, with good pace, his end product is very good and I am pleased to get him on board. He is champing at the bit and it is a plus for us, that’s for sure.”
Cornick’s Bournemouth team-mate Joe Quigley – who is also on loan with the Gills – misses Saturday's game against Peterborough as he is on international duty.
He will be hoping to feature for the Republic of Ireland when they face Kosovo in a UEFA under-21 Championship qualifier.
While it’s good news for Quigley, it’s not so good for the Gills.
“That’s something I didn’t need,” said Pennock, who already had a threadbare squad.
“That’s another body down, but it gives someone else an opportunity, a young one coming through.
“It’s disappointing but we can’t do anything about it. When your country comes calling you are not going to say no as a player. It is a proud moment for anyone.
“We just hope he does well and comes back injury free.”
