Gillingham coach Jermaine McGlashan has announced his departure for the Premier League.
McGlashan, 36, has left his role as a coach within the Gillingham academy to take on a role working with the youth players at Tottenham Hotspur.
McGlashan returned to the Gills as a coach in August 2023 as part of the Premier League and PFA’s ‘player to coach’ scheme. He had previously played at the club between 2014 and 2016
He shared his news on social media, writing on X: “Delighted to finally share that I’ve joined Spurs Academy.
“A big step in my coaching journey and development, looking forward to learning and working in an elite environment day to day with some top coaches.
“Thank you Gillingham FC for the last 18 months, and wish you all the best for the future, will be down to a game soon I’m sure. Gods timing always.”
He initially joined to coach all age groups within the academy at Gillingham, working alongside academy manager Bryan Bull and at the time both Keith Millen and Mark Moss, who have both since departed.
McGlashan also took part in training sessions with the under-18 team. Outside of Gillingham he managed AFC Croydon Athletic for a time and won promotion with them.
He played for the likes of Cheltenham, Southend and Swindon and had a spell at Ebbsfleet United, playing 57 league games for the Gills and scored five goals during his time at ME7.
The Premier League isn’t short of ex-Gills talent in coaching roles with Adam Birchall recently taking over as under-18 head coach at Arsenal and former Gills captain Andrew Crofts a first team coach at Brighton and assistant coach of the Welsh national side.
