Gillingham have offloaded defender Scott Malone to League 1 Crawley Town.
Malone, 33, was one of four players that Gillingham made available for transfer this summer.
The former Millwall defender played 48 games for the Gills last season but many of those appearances in the latter stage of the campaign came off the bench.
Malone lost his place in the starting eleven to Max Clark.
He won the 2023/24 goal-of-the-season award at Gillingham after scoring with a stunning volley against Sutton United.
The Gills have made four additions themselves in the close season but will be able to make more signings if they can balance up the books with some departures.
Malone has agreed a one-year deal with Crawley Town.
On making the move, he told his new club: “I am really excited for the opportunity to play for Crawley and I am delighted to be here.
“I have said for a few years now that I have wanted to play for this club. I married into the area ten years ago as my wife is in Broadfield, so it has always been a dream of mine. I am also happy to have got the deal done so early.”
Crawley won promotion last season through the League 2 play-offs but have seen many of the team that won at Wembley depart, including former Gills defender Will Wright.
Gillingham’s players head back to training on Monday.
