Gillingham have named their new youth manager.
Mark Moss had been at Southend United for the last two years but joins the Gills as replacement for Craig Stone.
Prior to being at Southend, Moss had previously worked as a youth coach at Nottingham Forest, Coventry City and his local club Oxford United.
Previous under-18 boss Stone left the club in October.
Moss took charge of his first game against his old club, Southend, overseeing a 3-1 win last Saturday.
“It has been a positive first week and I am impressed with the players I have got, I am happy to be here,” said the new coach, talking to the Gills media.
He continued: “I had a brilliant experience at Southend, it was a wonderful time, there are some great people there, it is a fantastic club, a fantastic academy, they do so well.
“The stability of the club here, it is stable, a good academy, a good history, there is also good people working here who I already know.
“I am someone who likes to be out of my comfort zone and have challenges, I am looking forward to the challenges that come.”
Moss has a number of his senior youth players representing the Gillingham first team but that gives him the opportunity to look at the younger talents coming through.
He said: “We have some good youngsters, there are getting pushed into the first team, which is brilliant as it is good experience for them.
“It gives me a chance to look at the under-16 players and also gives them the experience of stepping in and seeing for themselves if they are up to the challenge and I am sure they will be because it is a talented group.
“Long may it continue we get youth team players representing the first team.”
