Gillingham have strengthened their attacking options with the signing of a winger – one who’s played under the manager before.
It’s an area manager Neil Harris felt his side lacked and has turned to Huddersfield’s 26-year-old forward Connor Mahoney. The former England under-20 player joins on a season-long loan.

Mahoney, who can play on either flank, adds to the Millwall connections at the club, having played for the Londoners between 2019 and 2022.
Harris has made eight signings in the window is is now content.
He said: “I feel like we have a strong group and with the final piece of the jigsaw, a wide player, that we have a competitive group that can probably get us through a period that even though we have a couple of injuries, like we have, then we still feel we have a core group that is flexible enough to change and adjust how we play to get us through a game.”
Mahoney joined Huddersfield last season, making nine appearances for them in the Championship, all from the subs’ bench. His one and only appearance this term came in the League Cup, which rules him out of next week’s game at Luton.
The player should be available for the weekend League 2 match against Colchester United if paperwork is filed in time.
Blackburn-born Mahoney, started out with local club Accrington before a move to his hometown side Rovers, who he supports, 10 years ago.
He joined Bournemouth in 2017, for an initial tribunal fee of £425,000, but never made a first-team appearance in the Premier League for Eddie Howe’s side. He went on loan to Barnsley and then Birmingham, where he was voted young player-of-the-year in their 2018/19 Championship season.
Millwall, who were managed by Harris at the time, signed the player, then aged 22 for a reported figure in excess of £1m. Mahoney played 60 league games for them over two seasons.
He's played alongside Gills captain Shaun Williams and left-back Scott Malone during his time at The Den.
