Danny Lloyd had an extra reason to celebrate his midweek stunner for Gillingham.
The midfielder scored against Cambridge after running from inside his own half to put the Gills 2-0 up and revealed it was his 100th career goal.
Tuesday’s match ended 2-0 and the 29-year-old said he was “buzzing” afterwards.
Writing on twitter after the game, he said: “Really gritty performance from the boys and that goal was a special one personally, not all in the EFL but 100 goals throughout my career is something I am very proud of.”
His goal came on the hour mark and the Gills managed to see out the game and a clean sheet.
He added: “Buzzing for (goalkeeper) Jamie Cumming and the back four with the clean sheet and a large three points.”
Lloyd’s only other goal so far for the Gills came on the opening day with a close-range finish against Lincoln City that just about crossed the line.
Commenting on the goal, Gills boss Steve Evans said: "It's a great strike and I told him that is recognition for his hard work over the last two games."
