Gillingham let young defender Harry Webster join Isthmian Premier Division Chatham Town on a 28-day loan – Youth striker Jimmy Heasman signs for Sheppey United

Gillingham’s promising young defender Harry Webster has joined Chatham Town on loan.

Webster started two league games for the Gills earlier this season under their former manager Mark Bonner but hasn’t been in a matchday squad under John Coleman.

Webster has now joined Isthmian Premier Division side Chatham on a 28-day loan.

The 18-year-old right-back signed professional forms with the Gills back in September shortly after making his first senior appearance in an EFL Trophy match against Peterborough United.

Webster also went on to play against Crystal Palace under-21s in the Trophy competition before Bonner gave him his first taste of the Football League.

He started against Salford in early December in a 1-0 win and was also in the team that beat MK Dons by the same scoreline. He was replaced after an hour in a tougher second outing.

Current boss Coleman has remained faithful to senior player Remeao Hutton at right-back.

Chatham have now welcomed him to the Bauvill Stadium and the young defender could make his debut at home today (Saturday) against Cray Wanderers.

Isthmian South East side Sheppey United, meanwhile, have signed Gillingham’s 17-year-old youth striker Jimmy Heasman on a work experience loan.

Sheppey general manager Lee Allen said: "We thank Bryan Bull for once again sending us promising talent and we look forward to working with Jimmy.

“This is a player who has scored a lot of goals at youth level and will also provide a great work ethic on the pitch.”

Heasman is available for Sheppey today (Saturday) to play away at Littlehampton Town.
