Gillingham have completed the signing of right-back Cheye Alexander.
The 27-year-old was a free agent after his release by fellow League 2 side Wimbledon and joins the Gills after a successful trial period. The club haven't disclosed the length of the contract.
Alexander made his first appearance for the Gills this summer at Dover Athletic and is likely to feature on Saturday when Portsmouth visit Priestfield.
The club said: "Cheye has been on trial at the club over the summer and has impressed during training and friendly fixtures sufficiently to earn a full-time contract."
The former West Ham academy player had a season with Port Vale without making any appearances before a three year stay at Aldershot Town, where he was a regular in the team.
Two years at Barnet was followed by a move to AFC Wimbledon where he has spent the past couple of seasons, making 50 appearances for them.
AFC boss Johnnie Jackson decided against offering him a new deal, however, when the side followed Gillingham out of League 1. He was one of nine to be released.
Alexander will be coming up against his old team on the first day of the season when the Gills head to Plough Lane on Saturday, July 30. They meet there again in the Carabao Cup first round on Tuesday, August 9.
