Gillingham manager Mark Bonner has confirmed that forward Joe Gbode will be missing this weekend for their trip to MK Dons.
The 19-year-old suffered concussion in the win over Salford City last Saturday and must sit it out this weekend as he works his way through a process to return back to action.
Bonner isn’t expecting any of his injured players to make it back in time for this weekend, with Tim Dieng the closest, as the manager spoke on Thursday afternoon.
The Gills boss said “There's no-one to return,” when asked about this weekend’s team news.
On Gbode’s absence, he said: “Joe has to do a 12-day return to play protocol, basically, because he's had a previous concussion, so it's a little bit longer.
“There's loads of stages as to when he can be back in training.
“I think by the time we play next Friday (at home to Cheltenham), he'll be available and he'll have been in full training, but that won't happen this week, so he'll be missing.
“Everybody else came through the game without injuries, just some have gone big minutes for the first time, and so there's a few carrying one or two little bits, but hopefully we'll be able to call on most of those again.”
Bradley Dack got a few minutes at the end of the game and Aaron Rowe was an unused substitute. Josh Andrews played for around an hour and all three have continued training this week.
Goalkeeper Jake Turner is still training in a mask after a facial injury at Bromley. Glenn Morris played at the weekend and is likely to keep his place.
Bonner expects Dieng to join in training from next week and Armani Little the week after.
He said: “We hope to have Timmy available going into the busy Christmas period and hopefully Armani in amongst it somewhere.
“Hawks, I don't know yet. We'll see maybe in that period of time, but I'm not sure where he's at the minute.
Jacob Wakeling, Marcus Wyllie, Euan Williams and George Lapslie will all be fighting to get in the squad this weekend after all four were left out of the game against Salford at the weekend.
“They’re all available,” confirmed the manager. “I've got quite a few to pick from really, so that's good.
