Gillingham manager Mark Bonner could make big changes for the weekend - but he’s waiting on the fitness of several players before he can firm up his plans.
Speaking after the game at Bromley on Wednesday, Bonner said that he would “probably change as many of them as I can on the weekend” and on Thursday afternoon he provided an update on the status of some of those not involved of late.
There are hopes that Aaron Rowe and Bradley Dack could be fit for the weekend visit of Salford City.
Goalkeeper Jake Turner might be missing with a suspected broken nose while Armani Little remains a major doubt with a hamstring strain. He’s yet to return to training.
A hamstring injury is likely to keep Tim Dieng sidelined and a knee injury means Oli Hawkins is expected to miss out again. Max Clark is set to be available again, missing the game at Bromley after his partner gave birth.
Bonner said: “Aaron Rowe and Bradley Dack have trained all week so are potentially available for the weekend.
“Timmy Dieng felt his hamstring last week in training, so that's why he missed out. He's been running today (Thursday). He won't be fit for the weekend.”
Turner injured himself while making an important save at the end of the first half at Bromley - keeping out a powerful effort with his nose.
“It maybe broken,” said the Gills boss. “His eye blew up a bit last night and he lost his vision in one of his eyes, which is fine today.
“There's no concussion but he might have a bit of a break.
“If he were to play, he might have to play with a mask, but we'll just see how that one goes overnight.
“Oli Hawkins had a problem with his knee so he's been in and out in terms of running and things but he's not fit to go yet.
“I think with Aaron Rowe, it's just going to be a little bit of seeing if he can play any part of the game and gradually build that up. We just can't go all in straight away.
“With Dack, who knows really? There is no formula really to that. It's just suck it and see a little bit. We'll see if he gets through the week okay.
“We'll see whether we involve him at the weekend. And then again, we'll just see as we go really.”
Joe Gbode is fit and available but Bonner went with defensive cover instead on the bench at Bromley, naming youngster Harry Webster in the 18.
Commenting on Clark’s midweek absence, Bonner added: “Max Clark and Kate have had a baby. That's why he wasn’t there.
“We hope to see him tomorrow (Friday). Our congratulations to them. It's great news. We look forward to seeing him.”
