Gillingham teenager Bailey Akehurst made his debut for Cray Wanderers on Sunday after joining the non-league outfit on loan.
The 17-year-old left-back is in the second year of his scholarship at the Gills but has been involved with the first team at Priestfield while they endured early season selection issues.
Akehurst was free to head out on loan once several senior players returned to the fold for the Gills. He has linked up with a side managed by former Gills hero Danny Kedwell.
Cray were up against Potters Bar Town in the Isthmian Premier on Sunday at Hayes Lane, losing the match 1-0. Akehurst played 90 minutes.
He has joined a team that includes former Gills players Charlie Allen and Dean Beckwith. Kedwell is still playing at the age of 38.
Akehurst made his first senior appearance for the Gills in their EFL Cup game at Crawley Town in August and he came off the bench in the second round against Cheltenham. He was an unused substitute in Gills’ first five League 1 games of this season.
