Gillingham are hoping an injury to loan midfielder Callum Slattery isn’t as bad as first feared but have a couple more knocks to deal with.
The Gills take on AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday night and Slattery has been joined in the treatment room by Vadaine Oliver and Connor Ogilvie following a bruising encounter against Bristol Rovers.
Southampton loanee Slattery was stretchered off on Saturday with an ankle injury at the end of the first half. Early diagnosis following an x-ray has shown there isn’t too much concern.
Speaking about Slattery’s injury, Evans confirmed the player got the all-clear following an x-ray and was due to be scanned early this week.
Slattery has started all seven games that he has been available for since his move to Priestfield and assistant boss Paul Raynor said: “He has been excellent for us and has slotted in magnificently well. He is a good footballer, we hope it is a minor injury and nothing too serious.”
Evans spoke of those other two knocks and looking towards Tuesday’s game at Plough Lane, commented: “With Slattery, Oliver and Ogilvie all getting knocks it looks likely we will have to make a number of changes.”
