Gillingham Women have named their new manager.

The club have been looking for a new manager since Josh Oatham’s decision to quit a month ago. Dan Logue has been appointed, coming into the role with plenty of experience in the women’s game.

Logue’s first match in charge is on Sunday at Chatham’s Bauvill Stadium when Gillingham face Millwall Lionesses in the Kent Cup semi-final.

The UEFA A Licenced coach was most recently manager at Crawley Wasps and spent time previously with Millwall Lionesses. He’s an England Lionesses Talent Reporter.

He said: “I’m really pleased to be joining the club at this time in its transition. Having worked with many of the players previously, I know there is strong talent within the group and I’m looking forward to working with them again.

“Having worked with chairman Kevin Hake previously in my time at Chatham Town it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down. I’ve seen first-hand the drive and ambition to take the club to the next level.

“After having quite a few conversations with Kevin, it was clear to me that he has the vision and the ability to help me take the club forward.”

During the interim period between managers, captain Vicky Ashton-Jones had been in temporary charge of Gillingham, taking the team for their FA Cup match at AFC Wimbledon on Sunday.

One goal was enough for home side Wimbledon at Plough Lane, the winner coming on 65 minutes, scored by Ellie Dorey.

Megan Maslak had gone close for the Gills, with a volley that was tipped over by the home keeper. Breon Grant was also denied.

Gillingham - favourites to win the match due to their higher league status - were left frustrated by the impressive performance from the Dons goalkeeper Faye Baker and put a stoppage-time chance over the bar after a goalmouth scramble.

They had beaten Millwall Lionesses and Dulwich Hamlet to reach round three, managed The match was twice postponed previously because of bad weather. Winners Wimbledon host Charlton in round four.
