Gillingham’s home game against Leicester City next weekend is a sell-out - but those who can’t make it can still watch.
The club’s FA Cup match against the Premier League side will be screened live on BBC 1.
Gills beat non-league teams AFC Fylde and Dagenham & Redbridge to make it to the third round where they will be up against Brendan Rodgers’ side.
The 2016 Premier League champions and 2021 FA Cup winners will be bringing a sizeable following, with 1,902 tickets allocated to the visitors. They will mainly be located in the lower section of the Town End, with the upper part currently closed as works are needed to be done to that section. Visiting fans will also be seated in the Gordon Road Stand.
This will be the third time the Gills have played Premier League opposition this season, beating Brentford in the third round of the Carabao Cup on penalties before then losing out to Wolves in he fourth round.
The match takes place on Saturday, January 7 with a 12.30pm kick off.
There may still be a handful of tickets available in the coming days, say the club, “depending on the final positioning of TV cameras and temporary structures.”
Live coverage of the match ensures the club are guaranteed extra income from the game, in addition to a share of the sell-out gate receipts. Each club receives £85,000 for live broadcast fee in addition to any payments from the competition’s prize fund.
Gills have bagged £108,000 in prize money so far, plus income from overseas broadcasts. An additional £105,000 is up for grabs to the winners of the third round match.
