Barry Fuller believes it was Gillingham who looked like league leaders on Saturday after coming close to beating Brentford.
The Bees stay six points clear of their Kent rivals in League 2 after the 1-1 draw at Griffin Park but the Gills captain was delighted by his side's performance.
Fuller said: “We rolled our sleeves up and showed what we are all about. We probably edged it and at the end it looked like we were going to win the game.
“We passed the ball really well and looked like the team who were top of the table.
“Everyone was bouncing around afterwards as it was a great performance – that’s what most people were pleased about.”
Fuller is hoping the side can now keep that level of performance up for the run-in.
“We know we have to have six big performances now,” said the 24-year-old.
“There are some tough games coming up and we believe we can win all of those, especially if we perform like we did on Saturday.”
