Gillingham are set to make a decision on the future of winger Mark Marshall before the weekend.
The 32-year-old former Charlton, Bradford and Port Vale man has been subject of transfer speculation over the last 24 hours with League 1 sides Blackpool and Wycombe both named as potential suitors.
Marshall signed for the Gills in the summer on a short-term contract that expires after this weekend’s game at Rochdale.
The winger, released by the Addicks at the end of last season, has made an impact off the bench for the Gills but has found starts harder to come by.
Of his 18 league appearances, he has made just three starts and has been an unused sub in the last two matches. He has made 22 appearances for the Gills in total.
Boss Steve Evans has said he is in the market for three players, including a wide-man and was working hard over the weekend to try and bring some new players in.
He’s been frustrated in his attempts so far, with one club ‘moving the goalposts’ and saying no to another deal due to concerns over high wages.
