Justin Edinburgh has urged the home crowd to turn up the volume for the visit of Swindon on Tuesday.
Gills boss Edinburgh felt the stadium was quiet at the weekend, despite leading the match from the fifth minute, which left him a little surprised.
“For the first time I thought the crowd were quiet and that surprised me,” said Edinburgh.
"We had back-to-back away victories and we took 1,700 to Southend last week and it was like a home game.
“It might have been a bit tense and I take responsibility for the previous four here (last season), but at 2-0, I still felt that in comparison to last year it was a little quiet. I would like them to be a bit more vocal on Tuesday night.
“It is probably the mindset and the way football is, everyone wants to dwell on this, rather than move forward and give people opportunities to put things right.
“It can be frustrating but the majority of fans are fully behind us and supportive.
“I felt at 2-0 it could have been a lot louder than we normally were, but it’s summer time isn’t it? Everyone is on holiday and just taking it easy!
“Under the lights against Swindon I am sure it will be a far more vocal atmosphere.”
Swindon recently signed forward Luke Norris from Gillingham but he may miss the game after picking up an injury at the weekend.
Should he play, Edinburgh hopes the reception is a good one.
He said: “I was a fan of Luke. It was a difficult time here for Luke, I don’t know why. He was signed here under Peter Taylor before I arrived but whenever he had played against my teams he had been a threat.
“I was very supportive of Luke, I think he would first to acknowledge that, I had a lot of time for him. Injuries last year certainly upset his season. I would be disappointed if he didn’t get a good reception but we don’t want him to be going away with a smile on his face.”
