League 1 leaders Gillingham have avoided non-league opposition in the FA Cup.
They have been handed an away draw at League 2 Stevenage in round 1.
Stevenage - managed by former England international Teddy Sheringham - are currently fifth from bottom in their division and have former Gills players Charlie Lee and Chris Whelpdale playing for them.
Gills boss Justin Edinburgh and Sheringham are former team-mates at Tottenham.
The tie will be played on the weekend of November 7/8.
Gillingham have been knocked out at the first round stage in the last two seasons.
Peter Taylor's side were beaten 2-1 by Bristol City last season and suffered the embarrassment of a live-TV exit to non-league Brackley Town in 2013.
The Gills last met Stevenage a year ago, in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, with a Luke Norris penalty separating the sides.
Stevenage were beaten by Maidstone United in round one last season, in a replay at the Gallagher Stadium.
Gillingham have already played two League 2 sides this season, beating Plymouth in round 1 of the League Cup and dumping Luton Town out of the JPT.
