Gillingham have completed the signing of Mikael Mandron after a successful trial.
The 24-year-old forward has been on trial at Priestfield during pre-season after leaving League 2 Colchester at the end of last season.
He has impressed Gillingham boss Steve Evans enough in recent weeks to earn a contract
"It is no secret that I am a big fan of Mika’s and it is already well known that I have tried to sign the player previously," said Evans, who failed to land Mandron last summer when he was in charge at Peterborough.
"This is an exciting time to be working with him going forward.
“He gives us a presence, strength and mobility at the top end of the pitch and adds good competition to what are already good players in that department.
"He has spent the last couple of weeks with us and has played minutes in a number of different fixtures and has done nothing but impress."
Mandron becomes the second signing of the day for Gills - with a third new face lined up before the end of the week - after they completed a deal with former Bradford and Charlton wideman Mark Marshall.
"I am sure the fans will be delighted at the addition," added Evans. "Today we have added two talented players to a good squad of men in our dressing room who, in my opinion, are shaping up eloquently.”
Gillingham have not disclosed the length of deal that Mandron has signed.
