Gillingham have launched a commemorative away kit as the 25th anniversary of a famous Wembley win approaches.
The Gills have recreated the yellow strip worn by Peter Taylor’s side in their 3-2 Division 2 play-off final win over Wigan on May 28 2000.
Steve Butler and Andy Thomson scored in the closing minutes of extra-time as Taylor’s side came from 2-1 down to win 3-2 and reach Division 1 - now the Championship - for the first time.
Taylor and Thomson are among those to feature in a club promo which shows stars of the day unboxing the shirt and sharing memories of the club’s Wembley triumph.
“Lovely memories for me because that was the shirt that we played in for one of the best games I’ve ever managed in,” said Taylor.
“Hopefully the people that wear it next season can have as good a memories as we created on that day,” said Thomson.
The inside collar of the commemorative shirt includes the scoreline and names of all 16 players in Taylor’s final squad.
The kit is available exclusively to season-ticket holders at the club shop on Friday and will go on general sale from 9am to 1pm on Saturday. Online purchases will also be available.
