Gillingham have signed Millwall forward John Marquis on a long-term loan deal, enabling the striker to stay at Priestfield for the rest of the season.
Marquis has made an immediate impact at Gills, scoring three goals in four games - including twice in the home win over Oldham.
He has already developed a promising partnership with leading scorer Cody McDonald.
The move means Marquis could have played his last game for Millwall as he is out of contract at the end of the current campaign.
While not a permanent transfer, Gills needed to act before the January transfer window closed at 11pm on Monday. Had they not, Marquis' stay could have only been for a maximum of 93 days - and he could have been recalled by Millwall anytime after February 7.
The signing follows Gills earlier extending Max Ehmer's loan from QPR, also until the end of the season. Gillingham are not expected to be involved in any other major business on transfer deadline day.
