Gillingham have moved quickly to replace departed winger Nathan Thomas.
The Gills were left short in the wide area following Thomas' exit on compassionate grounds.
But manager Steve Evans returned to a former target and has today agreed a deal with Mark Marshall.
Marshall, 32, has spent the last two seasons with Charlton.
He has previously played for Barnet, Port Vale and Bradford City.
The winger played 49 games for the Addicks over the last two years, 29 of those coming last season.
He played against the Gills last season at the Valley, coming on as a late sub.
Fans got a glimpse of him during the open training session on Thursday.
