Bradley Garmston has returned to the Gills on a permanent deal.
The 21-year-old full-back played nine games for Gillingham on loan from West Brom last season.
He joins on a three-year deal.
Garmston was released by the Baggies at the end of the season and Gills boss Justin Edinburgh was quick to take action.
Edinburgh recently revealed to the KM his interest in securing Garmston’s services again, following the successful loan stint.
The quick-footed left-back has played youth football for the Republic of Ireland but left West Brom without making a senior appearance for them.
Garmston was only on the losing team once for the Gills last season, in the game where he went off injured. That ended his spell prematurely as he returned to West Brom for rehabilitation.
Edinburgh said: “I’m very happy to have secured Bradley on a three year deal. He was impressive during his loan spell with us and I have no doubt he will be a valuable asset to us now he’s with us permanently.
“He’s a left back who is just as good getting forward as he is defending and I look forward to working with him during pre-season and beyond.”
Gills signed keeper Glenn Morris on a new 12-month deal later on the same day.
