Striker Luke Norris could be heading for a Gillingham exit.
The club have accepted an offer for the 23-year-old frontman.
Norris wasn’t included in Gillingham’s squad which travelled to Leyton Orient on Saturday.
He played the opening 45 minutes at Dartford in midweek and that could have been his final bit of action in a Gillingham shirt.
Boss Justin Edinburgh confirmed that they have let the player talk to another club.
He said: “There was an enquiry from another club and we have allowed Luke to go and speak to them.”
Edinburgh had been in the market for a striker himself in addition to the loan signing of Bournemouth’s Joe Quigley.
The Gills currently have Cody McDonald and Rory Donnelly as their only other two senior strikers.
“It is not a case that we have to get one out to get one in,” said the manager.
“We have accepted an offer and Luke has gone to speak with the team.”
Edinburgh wasn’t revealing the team but it now looks likely Norris will leave for a fee. He joined Gillingham from Brentford two years ago, with the two clubs agreeing a compensation figure following the move.
Norris has played 70 league games for the Gills and scored 14 goals.
