Justin Edinburgh launched a passionate rebuke to those suggesting his Gills team are finished.
Gillingham dropped out of the play-off positions for the first time after a home defeat to Shrewsbury last weekend, with two games left.
Without a result at promotion-chasing Burton on Saturday, their hopes are likely to be over.
The odds are against the Gills but manager Edinburgh won’t be having any talk of giving up the fight.
Edinburgh said: “The boys are over the disappointment and everything is channelled into the next two games.
“There has been too much hard work and good performances, collectively and individually, over the duration of the season not to take it into the last game.
“I am sure criticism would have come immediately after Saturday’s game and rightly so. Football is full of emotions and that is why those fans that can travel will be there on Saturday and those fans will be here next Sunday.
“If it is that we come up short, we come up short but there is no chance, no talk and no body language of anyone throwing the towel in here.
“I would be extremely surprised if any of the supporters are, once they have got over that disappointment from Saturday."
