Gillingham’s attacking line-up could be there to stay.

Boss Justin Edinburgh named three forwards last weekend against Charlton and isn’t afraid of showing the same boldness on the road.

The Gills travel to Fleetwood on Saturday in positive mood after only being denied a win over Charlton following a controversial late penalty.

A three-pronged attack of Cody McDonald, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Frank Nouble, with Bradley Dack in support, is as good as any forward line-up at this level, says the Gills boss.

Edinburgh said: “You will have to go long and far to find better than that front four and they performed.

“It is about making sure that is on a consistent basis now and we can keep them all on the pitch. It’s no point doing it against Charlton and not the next two or three.

“Cody, for me, is looking like the player we know he is all about. Frank is getting up to speed now. We have had to manage him, dropping him in and out.

“With the work we’ve done behind the scenes and the work he’s done, he is trimming down and looked streamlined on Saturday.

“JET (Emmanuel-Thomas) had been out for a little while but came back in and looked effective, dropping off a bit second half.

“Dack is starting to look like the Dack of last season. He was making things happen, he scored the goal (against Charlton) and could have had another.”
