They host the Gills in the early weeks of the campaign, with Mark Bonner’s side heading to Highbury on August 24.

Centre-back Medley spent the first half of the 2020-21 season at Priestfield on loan from Arsenal.

He made 12 appearances under Steve Evans before returning to the Gunners, who promptly sent him back out on loan to Scottish club Kilmarnock.

Medley, a former pupil at the Howard School in Rainham, signed a four-year contract with Belgian outfit KV Oostende in the summer of 2021.

He played 58 times but has returned to England early to join the Cod Army.

Medley, 23, told Fleetwood’s website he feels he can improve his game at his new club.

He added: “I’m a ball-playing centre-half, I feel very comfortable on the ball and I like to play out from the back.

“I’m good in the air as well, I like to win a lot of aerial duels and hopefully this season I can help the team keep a lot of clean sheets as well and be solid in that defence.”
