Gillingham could drop out of the top four for the first time this weekend – but the manager isn’t stressing.
Boss Justin Edinburgh has kept his team in with a shout of a promotion spot in League 1 all season.
The Gills are without a fixture on Friday after their opponents Walsall called the game off due to international call-ups for three of their players.
It means Millwall could take advantage on Saturday and climb above the Gills, knocking them down to fifth.
“There is nothing we can do about that,” Edinburgh said.
“We don’t play so there is no point stressing about it or even wasting energy on it – if it happens, it happens. We will have a game in hand and what we do with our game in hand, when that comes around against Walsall, is the only thing we can affect.”
Half of the teams in the division will still be hoping they have a shot at promotion, either automatic or via the play-offs.
Edinburgh said: “There will be a lot of twists and turns between now and the end of the season and as games dwindle away, the pressure probably increases.
“But this group are relishing the challenge and have done all season. We want to continue to play in these big games.”
Millwall are away at Bradford ton Saturday but have to face leaders Burton on Monday night.
