Mark Stimson hasn’t given up on Gillingham winning automatic promotion and is promising a “positive” approach when they travel to fellow play-off challengers Chesterfield on Saturday.

The Gillingham boss won’t alter his opinion until it’s impossible to finish in the top three.

He said: “We need three points and that is what we will be going for. If we don’t get three then obviously we would like to get a point.

“Chesterfield are under a bit of pressure themselves because they need to win to stay in contention, but it’s about us and if we perform near to our potential we should be all right.

“We have to keep focused, disciplined, work hard, and keep getting the buzz from winning."

Striker Gary Mulligan has been added to the squad but midfielder Adam Miller starts a two-game ban. Stimson looks set to start with 4-3-3 again, with Dennis Oli hoping to get the midfield berth.
