Experienced midfield man Jamie O’Hara is ready to attack League 1.
The Gills have been cautious with the former Tottenham, Wolves and Fulham player since signing him on a free transfer in mid-August.
He made a brief appearance against Swindon but was pulled out of the squad over concerns about his fitness. The Gills were desperate to avoid any further injury setbacks.
O’Hara was back in midweek, playing 45 minutes against Luton in the Checkatrade Trophy and will now be ready for action ahead of Sunday’s televised game against Sheffield United.
Boss Justin Edinburgh said: “I am pleased he came back in. He got 45 minutes and looked a class act. I can’t remember him giving the ball away.
“With another two or three games, we know what we are going to have on our hands.”
Right-back Ryan Jackson has also recovered from a groin injury and has been training ahead of this weekend’s match, although he wasn’t risked on Tuesday night.
Edinburgh said: “He could possibly have played but I didn’t see the upside in risking that. We will benefit by giving him a couple more days of training ahead of Sunday’s game.”
Kick-off on Sunday is at 2.15pm with the game at Priestfield also live on Sky Sports.
