Franck Moussa scored both goals for Gillingham in their pre-season friendly at Faversham.
The midfielder opened the scoring from the penalty spot after four minutes and headed home the second shortly after the interval.
Moussa, on trial over the summer, was one of a handful of senior players in a youthful looking Gills team at Salters Lane.
It was a perfect start for the Gills, who lined up 3-5-2, Henry Woods starting up front with Bradley Stevenson following his weekend hat-trick against Sheppey.
With four minutes gone they had taken the lead, Moussa picking himself after being fouled just inside the box and converting the penalty past keeper Simon Overland.
The visitors bossed much of the opening half but Faversham had chances, Luke Harvey nodding a chance wide and former Gills player Ashley Miller coming close on a couple of occasions.
Overland showed good hands throughout the half, holding onto efforts from Ben Chapman and Moussa.
Gillingham went into the break a goal up, and doubled that lead early in the second half when Moussa headed in from a corner, three minutes after the restart.
Stevenson, working hard upfront, came close with a deflected effort after good work from Moussa, before the Gills management rang the changes.
Miller was a pest in the latter stages, keeping Gills’ young defence on their toes, while they also handled a physical battle well, against some experienced campaigners in the Faversham team.
