Faultless driving from Chatham's George Elmore led him to the first GT30 Gold Medal of the 2023 Circuit Powerboat Association British Championship.
The 18-year-old was one of three Jelf Racing competitors at the opening round of the British championship, the Lancashire Grand Prix, and he quickly got down to business.
Elmore secured pole position on his second lap of the course with a second and a half lead over his closest rival.
From pole position he drove faultlessly throughout all four heats, leading from the first turn to the chequered flag, and taking the first GT30 Gold Medal of the season and the lead in the British Championship.
On securing the lead, he said: "It's been a long winter, to be back on the water racing was fantastic and the team got the season off to a fantastic start.
“There were a few problems as there always is but as a team we worked hard and got to grips with everything quickly.
“To walk away with two out of three podium finishes puts us in a strong position going to the next round at the end of the month."
Jelf Racing’s T850 driver Nigel Edwards qualified in fourth place on the grid with a throttle problem. The Maidstone-based team worked hard to find and fix the problem before the first heat.
Two third place finishes and two fourth places in the heats saw Edwards take bronze overall.
F2 driver Ian Blacker, in his brand new DAC Hull, secured fifth overall in the championship with a third-placed finish the best of his heats.
Jelf Racing team will be back in action at the Lowestoft Grand Prix on the 29th/30th May.
