Trevon Bryan scores Chatham Town winner against Dover Athletic in first start for the Isthmian Premier side after a move from Bolton Wanderers

Chatham Town maintained their impressive late-season form with a Kent derby win at Dover Athletic on Tuesday night.

It’s now seven games unbeaten for Chats in the Isthmian Premier Division, as they move up to ninth place in the table, now eight points off the play-off places.

In contrast to Chatham’s impressive form, Whites have fallen off the pace with just one win in their last eight games.

Dover manager Jake Leberl has called on his side to improve their home form to clinch a play-off spot.

Chats may have left it too late to have a chance of a top-five spot themselves, but their current form is keeping their faint hopes alive.

One goal was enough for them to win on Tuesday night at Crabble - bouncing back from a frustrating weekend draw - as Trevon Bryan pounced with a 28th-minute goal.

Dover’s Jacob Mensah had attempted to play out from the back but lost possession under pressure. Chats took full advantage with Bryan scoring past Jordan Gillmore on what was his first start for the club.

Chats boss Kevin Hake made seven changes to his weekend starting XI, which included a place in the team for Bryan, who has recently joined from Bolton Wanderers.

Hake said: “Winning last night’s game at Dover keeps our unbeaten run going.

“It wasn’t the best game to watch but the grit and determination showed by us was the difference on the night.

“This is the hardest time of year to win points so to come into form now is a real positive.

“We had to make the seven changes due to injury and fatigue but everyone stepped up and put a shift in.”

Chatham have picked up 16 points from a possible 18 this month with two more games still go play in March.

They face Hashtag United away on Saturday and head to Folkestone Invicta the week after.

Hake said: “We’ve had six games in 18 days which has been intense but we come through it undefeated.

“We now look to another tough game against Hashtag on Saturday but we have the luxury of full training next week as the Saturday midweek games have stopped for a while.”
