Gillingham striker Brandon Hanlan eager to impress infront of big crowd at Coventry City's Ricoh Arena

Striker Brandon Hanlan is relishing the chance to play on the big stage again this weekend.

The 21-year-old was one of Gills’ standout players in Tuesday’s goalless draw with Accrington, and his performance should have done enough to keep him in the side to face Coventry on Saturday.

Sky Blues’ ticket discount means the impressive Ricoh Arena is likely to be busy and Hanlan can’t wait.

“It is going to be a good experience,” he said.

“We played Portsmouth away in front of a big crowd and Swansea but you can’t pay too much attention to what’s going on around you.

“It’s more on the pitch and you just have to do the job. We are away from home but we will definitely take the game to them.

“You always want to play in front of big crowds. It’s a dream to do that every week and when we get the opportunity on Saturday we have to perform to our best. For me, personally, I have to try and get on the scoreheet.

“We have been good away from home. We do create a lot of chances and when we finish them we do well and get three points. Hopefully we can do the same on Saturday.”

Hanlan enjoyed being back in the starting line-up against Accrington, picking up the man-of-the-match champagne, but was disappointed to finish another game without a

goal.

He said: “I am definitely frustrated but I just have to be patient and keep grafting on the pitch. The goals will come. I felt it was a good team performance.

“The gaffer said before the game to me and Listy (Elliott List) to just get at the full-backs one-on-one and to keep doing it for the whole game and that’s what we did, we stayed positive.

“I am quite surprised we didn’t get a goal or two, definitely surprised, but I feel like we were doing the right things on the pitch and sooner rather than later it will fall together.”
