It’s a big summer ahead for Gillingham loanee Connor Ogilvie.
He’ll be out of contract at Tottenham and if they don’t offer him a new deal then he’ll be a free agent.
Ogilvie shone for the Gills against Oxford on Saturday in the centre-back role left vacant following the injury to captain Gabriel Zakuani.
“Who knows what will happen,” said Ogilvie, who helped the Gills clock up a fourth clean sheet from their last eight games.
“I am enjoying it here and I am playing, that’s the main thing for me.
“I am playing well and hopefully I can carry that on.
“It was a massive loss to lose Gabs, he’s a big character and a great player, but you have to chip in and come together, and we did that on Saturday.
“Enjoying my football is massive. I get on with the boys, I am settled and who knows? I am not sure.”
Ogilvie has been with Spurs since the age of eight but has spent the last four seasons out on loan.
He had two spells at Stevenage and this is his second stint at Priestfield.
“I get on well with everyone here and I am enjoying my football,” he said.
“It’s a no brainer (to play here). If you are not settled and not happy then you are not going to play well. That’s how I feel.
“Once the season is done that is when I will chat to (Tottenham) and see what happens.”
Ogilvie is enjoying his role in the centre of defence, playing alongside Max Ehmer, who was making his 200th Gills appearance.
“It was a tough game, it was windy, but we dealt with it well,” said Ogilvie after the 1-0 win.
“At the back we shut up shop and let the front boys do what they can do.
“Playing alongside Max is a pleasure and he is a great footballer. His experience is vital for the back four, along with Barry Fuller and it is lovely playing alongside him.
“I felt we limited their chances and to get a clean sheet was a bonus.”
Gillingham won the game thanks to Brandon Hanlan’s 89th-minute goal, moving them up to 13th in the table.
Next up for the Gills is a game against a Bristol Rovers side who also boosted their survival hopes with a weekend win.
Ogilvie said: “When you score late like that it makes it even better, even sweeter. The changing room was buzzing and we’re looking forward to Tuesday now. It is nice to pull away and Tuesday is massive against Bristol Rovers.
“Hopefully now we can creep away, we don’t want to be involved in that (relegation battle), we want to be pushing on, we don’t want to be worrying too much.
“It was like roles reversed from last week, to get the winner, to do it in that fashion, everyone was happy.”
