Gillingham manager Neil Harris says he won’t be naming his senior players in the squad for the midweek trip to Deal Town.
The Gills are taking on the Southern Counties East Premier Division side in a friendly match at the Charles Ground tonight (Tuesday).
But the Gills boss has said it will be a young side heading to the coast.
“Deal will be a youth team,” Harris confirmed.
“There is no thought process to any senior players or trialists going on Tuesday night, that will just be the youngsters.
"We will be there to watch, to judge those lads again, and probably some of the youngsters who played Saturday won’t play Tuesday either so it will be a very young side that goes to Deal.”
Gillingham’s next senior friendly will be on Saturday when they take on Andy Hessenthaler’s Dover Athletic.
Youth players bulked out the squad for their opening pre-season game at Folkestone. Eight second years were named in the 23-man squad while Harris continues to look for additions.
Asked if new arrivals would be in this week, the Gills boss said: “I have not made a promise all summer and I am not going to start making promises now.”
