Harry Lennon has seen the best and the worst of times at Gillingham during the last year.
His second loan spell from Charlton is certainly proving to be more positive than his first.
Last November the central defender joined a Gillingham team hovering just above the League 1 drop zone. He played twice, with his second appearance against Bristol City being the final one under the reign of Peter Taylor.
Lennon returned to Charlton shortly afterwards but is back at Priestfield now, playing under Justin Edinburgh and enjoying life battling at the right end of the table.
He said: “It is a lot different here and I have noticed it is much more positive.
“The first day I stepped back into the changing room everyone was buzzing and happy. We are under a different manager but half of the lads are the same and it’s a good tight dressing room.”
Romford-based Lennon is at Gillingham to play in matches after making only a handful of appearances for the Addicks.
It is understood he could sign an extension to his current deal there. His contract expires in the summer.
“I came here to get some games,” he said. “I am 20 and I haven’t had many games. It is hard at Charlton to break through but I have come here, played two games, and think I have done very well.
“I would be happy to stay longer but we will have to see how it goes. I am here for the month at the moment and we’ll take it as it comes.”
Lennon scored Gillingham’s third goal in the 3-1 win over Chesterfield – his first professional goal.
“I was absolutely buzzing with that,” he said. “It was a great feeling and hopefully there will be more to come.”
