Gillingham substitute Jordan Graham didn’t have the impact boss Steve Evans was hoping for - admitting a lack of training didn’t help.
Graham had a couple of sessions with the rest of the team after recovering from a dead leg which he picked up in the last game at Priestfield, against Lincoln City.
The injury meant he missed playing in the weekend game at Charlton Athletic but he was on the bench for Tuesday night’s match against Peterborough.
Boss Evans turned to the former Wolves man - who has been a star player this season - just after the Gills had seen their 1-0 lead wiped out. Graham replaced Vadaine Oliver following a goal from Siriki Dembele which had put Peterborough 2-1 up.
Evans has previously labelled Graham and Dembele as the two most exciting players in League 1.
But on Tuesday, Gills boss Evans admitted: “If I had known Jordan Graham was going to play like that then I wouldn’t have brought him on.
“I thought he was totally ineffective and it demonstrated that he had missed seven or eight days of training.
"He only trained Sunday and Monday and that was the reason he was on the bench. I put him on because he is such a gifted player.”
