Great Britain under-21s were soundly beaten in their final World Cup qualifier at Medway Park.
A 46-14 win for the Netherlands earned them a place at the finals in Brazil and ended Britain’s disappointing campaign with a third straight defeat.
The game was the final one of the tournament, taking place on Sunday, and followed Hungary’s 37-26 victory over Israel.
Defeat for Britain made it three losses from three at the Gillingham venue after previously being second best to Israel on Friday (18-24) and against Hungary (14-37) on Saturday.
The Dutch took control early on with a goal from Niek Jordens and a quick hat-trick from Daan Versleeuwen.
The Netherlands led by 15 at the break and they did not let up in the second half.
They continued to find the back of the net, although Samuel Crocker and Oli Barton were on target for GB. Ryan Goodwin added two more but by that time the Dutch had passed the 40-goal mark.
Morgan Gillet completed the scoring for GB but a master-class performance from the Netherlands ensured it was a heavy home defeat for Britain.
