Attacking player Ricky Holmes has joined the Gills on loan for the remainder of the season.
Holmes, 31, is the second signing of the day following Graham Burke’s arrival from Preston North End, joining from Championship side Sheffield United.
Former Charlton player Holmes spent the first half of this season on loan with Oxford United.
He joined the Blades from Charlton a year ago for an undisclosed fee but has made just one league start for them.
Holmes had joined Oxford on a season-long loan but left early after injury problems, activating an early release clause.
His last appearance for Oxford came in December and he played against the Gills prior to that in a 1-0 win at the Kassam Stadium.
Holmes said he was grateful that the Gills had given him the opportunity.
"Within a month I should be back doing what I love doing," he said.
"I can't wait to be back out there."
Boss Steve Lovell added: "Ricky is an excellent professional and somebody who has an awful lot of quality."
