Gillingham have been handed a home start for the second successive season in League 1.
The Gills will entertain Lincoln City on Saturday, August 7 at Priestfield in their first match of the campaign. The EFL fixtures were released on Thursday morning.
The Imps will certainly hope it's a lucky omen for them, as Gillingham met eventual champions Hull at Priestfield on the first day of the 2020/21 league campaign.
Gills lost that game 2-0 and were well beaten by Lincoln at Priestfield in February, going down 3-0 in a televised match.
They did exact a measure of revenge, however, by winning the return game 3-0 with goals from Vadaine Oliver, Kyle Dempsey and a Jordan Graham penalty.
After hosting Lincoln, Gillingham travel to Plymouth Argyle on August 14 before a midweek trip to AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday, August 17.
Gills host Ipswich on Boxing Day, visit Charlton on Wednesday, December 29 and round off their campaign at home to Rotherham on April 30.
There is a midweek trip to Rotherham on Tuesday, December 7 but in a change to recent seasons, the remaining midweek matches are reasonably local. Along with AFC Wimbledon, Gills also visit Cambridge United on September 28 while they host Doncaster on October 19, Cheltenham midweek on November 23, along with the return matches against Cambridge United and AFC Wimbledon in February.
Gills are due to host Charlton on September 4 but that game could be postponed due to international call-ups. Other international dates are Wycombe (October 9), Sheffield Wednesday (November 13), Oxford (January 29) and Accrington Stanley (March 26).
The 2021/22 season ends a week earlier than the Championship and League 2 due to the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
