Gillingham manager Steve Evans’ midweek team selection will be based on who wants it most.
Evans felt there were players on Saturday who didn’t try hard enough and he’s assured Gillingham fans that those 11 picked to face Accrington on Tuesday night will be giving their all from the first whistle.
“We will make changes,” he said, after a 2-1 defeat at Doncaster. “I will play 11 players who try.
“At the minute we are having to juggle and regroup but one thing I can assure the Gills supporters is there will be 11 players who start the game that I know will give me everything they have got.
“I expected that on Saturday and I didn’t get it. I had doubts about one or two before and it is no longer a doubt.”
Evans had been disappointed with last Tuesday’s EFL Trophy performance against Cambridge United when he made seven changes to his league side to give others a chance. He warned on that occasion that those underperforming might be looking elsewhere for football soon.
The Gills boss has money in the budget to bring up to three players in when the January transfer window opens.
Saturday’s first half performance also failed to impress him and he considered making five changes at the break.
The Gills had gone to Doncaster with a full squad, although some were carrying knocks. The likes of Kyle Dempsey and Dominic Samuel managed to play, however.
“Kyle and Dominic are fine,” Evans said.
“We were monitoring the boys in the game. We didn’t take the chance with Scott Robertson and the rest are fine.
“I would love to be saying one or two didn’t run about because they were feeling something.”
